Check Ride (CR)

Head screwed on? Check! Bum on seat? Check! You’re good to go on your check ride. The Check Ride (CR) is a mandatory three-and-a-half-hour course that makes sure you are proficient in the safety and practical skills of riding a bike in order to pass the Pre-Provisional Test. On both range and road, you’ll progress from pre learner training with physical and mental safety skills. You’ll also get feedback and guidance from our experienced trainers to improve your riding technique.

Description

  • The Check Ride must be taken at least 28 days prior to taking the Pre-Provisional Test. (Note: The Pre-Provisional Test must be taken no later than twelve months after receiving your Learner Licence).
  • Choose between midweek and weekend courses in a range of locations.
  • Course fee includes use of bike, helmet and gloves but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
  • Spread the cost of the course with interest-free payments through Afterpay.

Prerequisite: You must hold a current and valid Tasmania motorcycle learners licence. It must be at least 28 days since you obtained your learners licence. You must be medically fit (See FAQs on our website). You must hold a licence that is not currently cancelled or suspended.

You’ve got this. The final mandatory step in Tasmania's motorcycle graduated licensing system (M-GLS). The one-and-a-half-hour assessment brings together your previous training and real-world riding experience, to test your skills. It includes an on-range riding skill assessment and an on-road safe riding assessment.

Take no chances. The Practice and Pre-Provisional Test binds an additional one-hour practice with an experienced trainer, with all the other aspects of the Pre-Provisional Test. This practice will build your confidence and enhance your chances of a successful pass.
